You know her for her outstanding work as an actress in film and television, but you may not be aware that Linda Blair is also a dedicated and very hard working animal rescuer.
The Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation was formed to rescue abandoned and abused companion animals from Los Angeles area streets and shelters, and provide them with veterinary care, rehabilitation, socialization skills, and a loving place to live.
In January 2007 the Foundation purchased land in Acton, California on which to build a facility where many rescued animals could thrive. This is a huge undertaking and, while progress has already been made, the Foundation needs materials, volunteers and funds to complete this wonderful project, which has Rescue Ink ’s total endorsement and support.
So exactly what does Linda need for this important undertaking? Let’s start with building supplies, lots of different grades of plywood, 2x4's, 4x4's, 50’ rolls of 6’ high chain link, posts, tension wire, tension bands and so on. You know, the stuff you need to build shelters and fencing. There also seems to be a big problem with the water pump, so if you can fix it or supply a new one, let her hear from you.
Of course, no rescue and shelter facility can exist without volunteers, so if you’re in driving distance of Acton and would like to join Linda in building and running something really special you can send an e-mail to Worldheart10@sbcglobal.net. By the way, the members of Rescue Ink will be on hand this summer, banging nails, stringing fence, and lending our support to something we believe in.
