Maria Milito, a native New Yorker, has been heard on the New York airwaves since the 80’s. She joined Q104.3, New York’s Only Classic Rock Station, in 1996 as midday host. Her popular feature, “Maria’s Lunch Licks,” has Tri-State area offices jamming her studio phone, fax, and email. In the recently released Arbitron Ratings, Milito’s shift ranked #1 in three key demos (Men 18-49, Men 25-49 and 25-54) and #2 in Adults 25-54.

Her New York City “break” was on the original WKTU. When that station flipped formats in 1985 from Top 40 to album oriented rock (creating K-ROCK), she remained a mainstay there for over a decade. In addition to her own shift, Milito’s duties also included hosting “The Best of Stern.”

One might find it extremely difficult to escape Milito’s signature voice whether you’re in the New York metropolitan area or traveling nationwide. Milito was the first female promo announcer for the Madison Square Garden Network and the Nickelodeon game show: MAKE THE GRADE. Today she is the staff announcer for NY1 NEWS in New York City as well as Time Warner Cable, their parent company. Milito’s influence has been heard nationally on many television spots for world renowned companies such as American Online, Citibank and various NBA/WNBA teams.

Milito’s experience is not strictly limited to off camera work. She appeared on-camera as the host of VIDEO SPOTLIGHT, a music video show on New Jersey Cable. Milito was also the on-camera announcer for Lifetime’s QUEENS, a panelist on the Fox News Channel’s FULL NELSON, frequent guest on the WB11 Morning News and a contributor to Cablevision’s DIGITHEAD. For the past two years she has been a regular guest on MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann commenting on American Idol. She has also filled in as a guest host for NY1’s The Call.

Milito serves on the Executive Committee for the American Cancer Society’s Annual Dogs Walk and is active throughout the year in various pet charities including Animal Care & Control and the NYC Mayor’s Alliance. Through her work at Q104.3 she is also active in local charities including March of Dimes, YAI, Musicians on Call, Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, and the Harley Davidson Ride to benefit Breast Cancer. She is a proud supporter of the NYPD/FDNY, and recipient of the Columbia Association Heritage Award.

Sarah joined The Rescue Ink Foundation in 2010 as our Executive Director. As director of the Foundation, Sarah is responsible for tackling the daily challenges we face to save hundreds of abused animals, as well as creating supportive alliances with those who believe in our mission and developing an educational curriculum with the members of Rescue Ink.

After growing up in a house full of rescue animals, Sarah realized her passion lay in rescuing animals and animal welfare. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations and a minor in English from The Ohio State University, before moving to New York City to begin a career in Public Relations. After realizing a lack of fulfillment in the corporate world, Sarah returned to her main love of rescuing animals and applied her business skills to the structured efforts of animals rescue organizations, whilst studying for a Master of Public Administration degree from Walden University. Prior to joining the Foundation, Sarah spent five years at Animal Care & Control of NYC, a city shelter system that rescues over 43,000 animals each year in the greater New York City area. During her time on the Senior Management team at AC&C, Sarah helped facilitate operations in all three city shelters, was responsible for overseeing quality control, volunteer & foster program, adoption programs, special events, development and media.

Sarah’s life devotion to animal rescue coincides perfectly with The Rescue Ink Foundation’s mission; educating the public on humane treatment of animals and to conquer the plight we face to end animal cruelty. She is a member of Public Relations Society of America, American Society for Public Administration, Step up Women’s Network, Sierra Club, and Amnesty International.

Sarah actively supports various rescue efforts and is well respected within the animal community for her tireless efforts to raise awareness on animal rescue, spaying and neutering and humane animal care. Sarah is an active vegetarian and currently resides in Forest Hills, Queens, with her husband, two rescued cats Oliver and Emma, two rescued dogs Max and Lucy, and their rescued guinea pig Madeline.
